Am I A Good Candidate for a Rhinoplasty?

At Plastic Surgery Seattle, our best rhinoplasty candidates are uncomfortable with the size, shape or proportion of their noses and desire to have a more pleasing contour. Patients should be in good health and have realistic expectations about their rhinoplasty surgery outcome. There are some restrictions for rhinoplasty surgery, so make sure you share your complete medical history with Dr. Gottlieb during your rhinoplasty consultation.

What Happens During a Rhinoplasty Procedure?

During your rhinoplasty procedure at Plastic Surgery Seattle, Dr. Gottlieb will create a custom design and plan for your surgery. After incisions are hidden inside the nasal cavity, the nasal skin will be raised to allow Dr. Gottlieb to sculpt or reconstruct the nasal cartilage, soft tissue and bone. The nasal skin is then redraped and bandages are placed to promote proper healing. In most cases, there are no visible, external scars.

How Long Does a Rhinoplasty Procedure Take?

A routine rhinoplasty procedure will generally take from 1-4 hours, depending on the complexity of the surgery.

When Can I Return to Work Following Rhinoplasty?

Most rhinoplasty patients at Plastic Surgery Seattle are able to return to work in a week, after the splint is removed. Bruising around the eye area should fade in a couple of weeks, although swelling may last a little up to a year.

How Long is the Recovery Period Following Nose Surgery?

Following nose surgery from Plastic Surgery Seattle, Dr. Gottlieb will apply a splint over the nose to hold it in an optimal position for healing and protect it from injury. The splint will be removed in about a week. Patients may experience some eye bruising and swelling that will disappear in about 2 weeks, and ice packs can be used to minimize swelling. Any numbness should also subside within a few weeks following nose surgery. Any pain or discomfort can be relieved with a pain medication prescription. Patients should wait 6 weeks before resuming exercise and are encouraged to wear sunblock for several months. Your final nose surgery results should be apparent in the next 10-12 months.

Remember, everyone heals at their own pace. Dr. Gottlieb will discuss your expected recovery progression with you during your confidential nose surgery consultation.

What Are the Risks Involved With Rhinoplasty?

At Plastic Surgery Seattle, we strive daily to reduce our patients' degree of risk through updated technology, ongoing doctor and staff training, and careful adherence to safety regulations. We take every precaution necessary to make sure each patient is in a safe and sterile environment. Our patients are comforted by Dr. Gottlieb's skill, experience and professionalism and feel good about entrusting their rhinoplasty expectations to us. Dr. Gottlieb will be happy to discuss any risks involved in this procedure during your rhinoplasty consultation.

Although serious complications are rare following rhinoplasty, potential risks include postoperative nasal bleeding, infection, anesthesia reaction, contour irregularities, burst blood vessels, discoloration, infection, hematoma, swelling and skin irregularities.

Patients are asked to stop smoking for at least 4 weeks before and after surgery to reduce risks.

At Plastic Surgery Seattle, we believe the amazing results of nose surgery performed by Dr. Gottlieb are well worth the investment. No matter what your financial situation, we can work with you to make sure cost is not a deterrent. We offer several payment options and affordable financing through several financing companies including Care Credit.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect From My Rhinoplasty?

When you come to us looking for a change, we take into account your health history, goals, and make sure you are well informed about the risks and benefits of rhinoplasty.
